Progressive Democrats of America Blog: Subsidies for Wal-Mart, but Not for Working Moms

As I look at all the hoopla on TV about health care, I couldn't figure out why Dem legislators can't stand together for the "public option" even in light of the fact that a majority of Americans want it included. Your article, unfortunately, makes sense. The idea that it's who the subsidy is intended for makes the difference. It's unfortunate and it appears our government has abandoned its citizens so it can take care of corporations. I guess I'm quite disillusioned with the Democratic party and will probably switch back to supporting progressive third parties, since it's apparent that the Dem party have been bought.

Excellent distinction that subsidizing big business, corporations, war (military industrial complex) with our tax dollars is O.K., but when it comes to helping out the working people when in need is not.
And many working people pay more taxes than corporations due to the corporate loopholes.

The priorities are out of whack! These Republicans and Blue Dog Dems are out to protect their pockets, cronies -- big business at any cost. They need to keep funding their relection from these big corporate thieves! They are BIG TIME conservatives without a conscience!
