So refreshing to here straight talk in congress for a change. I'm adding Weiner to my list of heroes with Kucinich and Sanders.

Now this turkey wants to eliminate Medicare. Can you imagine how many votes they have just lost due to this idiot.

He doesn't want to eliminate Medicare....it was a strategy to get people like the blue dogs who kept talking about not favoring a government run insurance program to put their votes where their mouths are. Nobody voted against it because medicare works really well for their constituents and there would be havoc if they voted against this "government run health program.

The next day he introduced an amendment to replace the terrible HR 3200 bill with HR 676 for expanded medicare for all. Since nobody voted against medicare--how can they justify not voting for everyone to have it when it is cost neutral, covers everyone and saves the trillion dollars cost of the other bills?

It was table from the committee to instead be discussed and voted on with the full house when congress reconvenes in fall. This is the time to call your rep and ask them to support expanded, enhanced medicare for all.

Every time people in congress say they do not want government run healthcare the press should ask, "Will you vote to get rid of Medicare?" All of us should dare them to do it.

Yes--it's a great strategy. I think that was an ingenious move on Weiner's part to do that with the energy and commerce committee.

This is falling into the single payer's lap. The people are happy with medicare and are angry at having to pay a nickle more for healthcare. The solution Medicare For All Everybody In- Saves billions of dollars not to mention the 20000 people who will not be here, this time, next year!

Bravo. I am a 3 time cancer survivor. I had the best insurance, the best best insurance in 1987. My broker forgot to tell me the fine print "Do not under any circumstances get sick as we have the right to end your life". After surviving 2 breast cancers, I received notice that my premium was going to $1000.00. This was 2003. Imagine, $1000.00. I could not make ends meet at all trying to do that so I had no choice but to drop it. And so ended my life. I was taken to the hospital emergency room in sept of 2005 and diagnosed with cancer in both my kidneys. All I could think of was "why did I survive cancer?" "why did I survive". By the Grace of God I have a cousin who is an entertainer and I had to go to him and ask for help. That was an awful feeling. But he said of course and paid nearly $80,000.00 for my surgeries (2 separate). If it were not for him I'd be gone. So here I am nearly 4 years later without any follow up, without anyplace to turn, fighting for single payer, i've been interviewed by the BBC, the Sun Sentinal, CalNurses had my story on their website, my daughter made a video on put it on YouTube HR676 and I was the star of the show. I have been interviewed by CNN's medical producer Stephanie Smith but my story has not been told. I need to thank you personally for what you are trying to do. We are behind you and will do anything to get the truth out to these angry people because medicare for all will SAVE money..and not be Obama Care. I don't want Obama Care. The insurance companies have to be brought to their knees. They cannot continue to play God which they do on a daily basis. They decide who will live and who will die and yet people are o.k. with this? When opponents meet me in person and do not know my story they are shocked when I tell them that they are talking to someone without healthcare and a 3 time cancer survivor. Then they stop to think about their increases and other costs that get higher with each sickness.

Please keep fighting for me and others like me. I am doing all I can through PDA, locally here in Florida (someplace for a New Yorker to end up) but I am very very active and willing to do anything radical. I have put out to the organization that this reminds me of the days of Civil Rights movements. How did that get across? By people marching and showing solidarity. I wanted to walk from my house to Washington DC on the morning of my 60th birthday and let the media know and anyone along the way could join me. Yes I know that is one heck of a walk but what do I have to loose? I'm already on the list of the living dead.

Thank you for having the courage to stand up for us. Courage is being afraid and doing it anyway. I am glad to have the opportunity to write to you. You are amazing.

How can we have a country founded on Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness without Medicare for all?

www.1payer.org has free faxes to send to appropriate congress people to support single payer and also phone to call Obama and reps. Since HR 676 will be debated on the house floor and voted on, this is the time to rally support. That same site, Health Justice, also has a program to call people who want to support single payer and support them in taking action.

PDA and Healthcare Now and Physicians for a National Healthcare Program all have good action steps.
